Let’s Get the Ball Rolling
Ready, Steady…
Is there a better way to kick off a whole new week than with a fresh batch of new idioms? This week we’re going to tackle head-on some idioms that denote starting or beginning.
But before we continue, in case you have forgotten, idioms are phrases or expressions whose meaning cannot be understood from the literal definitions of their individual words, so their understanding is crucial for creating, deciphering, and conveying engaging, creative, and subtle subtexts in communication.
Get the Ball Rolling
As I mentioned earlier, on today’s menu: idioms for starting.
If you wish to avoid sounding like a parrot and overusing the words start or begin, match the parts of the idioms below to learn some more creative options.
There are ten sentences containing ten idioms, each with a blank. Click or tap on the words in blue, and then click or tap on the appropriate blank to complete the idiom.
If you’ve matched the correct word, the description of the idiom will appear below it. If not, the blank will get a little shake, and the word will return to its original position.
Let’s get down to business!
