Too Good for You

What an odd topic for a Sunday afternoon, but I just learned that my friend is getting a divorce after years and years of marriage.

And after all they’ve gone through – well, technically, she went, and he did… but let us not nitpick on this beautiful day – he tells her she’s too good for him.

Which no one can really argue with, but let us also not forget that you’re too good for me always boils down to either:

a) I like you, but you’re just not worth the effort,

or

b) I like you, but I’m just not willing – or ready – to put in the effort.

This is also fine, as we can only do as much at a given moment. Still, people will always tell you exactly what you need to know. All you have to do is be willing to listen… and not turn a deaf ear… or whatever the equivalent of a blind eye in this situation is.
