The Mind’s Lens: Is Your Perception Clouded?

  • POV

Ever been in a situation that made you wonder – how objective are you, really?

Two friends were texting each other. One was unsatisfied with his current job and was looking for something better, while the other was caught up in dire personal and professional circumstances.

The first friend texted:

I just saw one of those fancy electric BMWs which had newera written on it. For a moment there I thought it said nevera 😂😂 But then the similarity between these two hit me

The second friend replied:

I see what you mean

Both friends started typing. Their messages were delivered at the same time.

The second friend’s message read:

Sure, one of them is a new era, and the other one is an obliterating wind. I can totally see the similarity 🧐

However, the first friend wrote:

Nevera as a nasty change of weather and New era as some sort of a huge upcoming change 😁

If two friends can interpret the same thing so differently, how often does this happen in everyday life?

It kind of makes you wonder – is your environment, internal or external, affecting your perception, or even clouding your judgement? And if so – to what extent?
