Things I Do for My Mom, Like Christmas in October

This post was written a year ago, in October, but for some reason, I didn’t publish it. Don’t judge me; it’s not the worst thing I’ve done. Anyway, it’s here now, so enjoy.

Mom. The only person in this world who can make me do Christmassy thingies in October. Yes, you read that right.

Again, mom. The only person in this world who can make me visit Zagreb Advent several years in a row. Or make me go shopping all day long every time she pays me a visit, even though I hate crowds. Yikes.

Those who know me also know I’m not much of a Christmas fan. In fact, I kinda pride myself on my Grinchy mentality.

But my mom likes to give cute, personalized gifts to people she likes, and every “you know I’m not really good with these things” reads as “can you make me something special so I can leave an indelible impression with totally cool unique artsy and craftsy gifts?”

Sure, I guess.

And I fall for it. Every. Single. Time.

Which is why I spent all of last weekend mulling over ideas for “cute, personalized Christmas gifts” I hadn’t made before. This is what I came up with.

My mom is excited. What do you guys think?

Anyway, the moral of the story:

Love your moms. You only have one. And they won’t be here forever. (Yes, even if they make the little Grinch in you do Christmassy thingies as early as October…)
