Illuminate: Let Your Memory Shine!

How About That!

A perfect game for a perfect year-end. This year, we have talked a lot about working memory and dual-tasking and played some very interesting games, which you can find in previous posts.

Today, we are going to play one more game to wrap up the year. 😉

Shine Away!

The game is rather simple, even though it simultaneously practices short-term memory, attention, and focus, as well as pattern recognition.

It involves several cognitive processes, such as working memory, executive function, and visual processing.

The game is also aligned with chunking, cognitive load, and neuroplasticity, which we mentioned earlier.

And, if you’re a bit longer in the tooth, you probably noticed that this game was inspired by Simon, the classic electronic memory game that gained popularity in the late 1970s. In Simon, players replicated increasingly longer sequences of lights and sounds, challenging their memory and pattern recognition skills.

How to Turn on the Lights?

The ten buttons below represent the ten lights that need to be illuminated. However, this can only be done with the right color sequence. The sequence will be shown one color at a time. After each new color, you must repeat the entire sequence in the correct order. If you make a mistake, the game is over. If you click the right sequence, you win. How fast? The timer will let you know once you’ve finished.

Good luck, and let those lights shine!
